New iMacs - As usual, all class and spank value!

New iMacs

Dropping the white plastic look of the past few years, the iMacs are now aluminium and glass (yes, real glass, not polycarbonate) with glossy screens - and the little aluminium keyboard with macbook-like keys is real, coming with the iMac in two sizes - a full sized wired version and a small wireless model. So much for the death of firewire, the iMacs now sport both FW400 and FW800 ports at the rear.

All models support up to 4GB RAM using PC2-5300 SO-DIMMs, and the top 24-inch model contains a Core 2 Extreme processor.

Standard models are:

$AUS1698 - 20" screen (1680x1050) with 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 250GB HD, SuperDrive, and Radeon HD 2400 XT 128MB graphics.

$AUS2149 - 20" screen (1680x1050) with 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 320GB HD, SuperDrive and Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB graphics.

$AUS2599 - 24" screen (1920x1200) with 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 320GB HD, SuperDrive and ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB graphics.

$AUS3339 - 24" screen (1920x1200) with 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme, 2GB RAM, 500GB HD, SuperDrive and ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB graphics.

New Keyboards

The new keyboards can be bought standalone - but aren't available quite yet; about a week's delay for the $AUS69 wired and 3-5 weeks for the $AUS109 wireless version

New Mac mini

The new Mac minis finally sport Core 2 Duo processors, at 1.83 or 2.0GHz, with 2MB and 4MB L2 cache respectively. The RAM limit stays the same at 2GB (1GB is standard), and the Intel GMA950 graphics are unchanged.

$AUS849 for 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM and 80GB HD.

$AUS1148 for 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM and 120GB HD.
